At the next table are two little girls, around 9. They sit quietly the whole meal, across from each other. They take le menu enfant, a hamburger and French fries. This is our first meal in France, in a lovely hillside town called Obernai in the Alsace. How COULD this be French food for children?
I have never really spent much time in France, so I am curious. I have been a few times to Paris. I studied French in school and college. We’ll see.
The dessert for the menu enfant (which our daughter also took – well, of course!) turns out to be a popsicle served on a plate surrounded by eight sugary sweets in plastic wrappings. We throw the sweets away. Even our daughter casts her eyes askance at THAT sugar content
